I thought it was about time we shared an update about the site, what we have achieved so far and our plans for the coming months. After almost 3 full months in we are tracking nicely we have just over 70 pieces of content up and are slowly starting to see organic search traffic arrive which is a real positive. We have also recently had an increase in social media generated traffic as a result of your shares and likes so thank you very much for your ongoing support.
Our Youtube channel is also growing and now has 50+ subscribers and counting. Getting quality content on our YouTube channel is a big focus for us over the next month so stayed tuned there.
Semi external to this website we also have 13+ apps in Google Play check them out now and show your support there will a review. For apple users we are not yet on the App Store but it is a goal in the future we just don’t have a time frame on this as it requires a few things that we don’t have in place at the moment.
From an income point of view we are averaging about $5 per month across all platforms in total with the majority coming from the website here and small amounts from our apps. The apps though have shown a solid increase in downloads and are now slowly starting to produce some consistent earning over the past few weeks, I would suggest these numbers are slowly going to continue to increase overtime into a nice passive income as we get more apps up and get better at marketing them.
You may have noticed no weekly wrap posts over the last few weeks and this is due to us making the decision to ends both the weekly and monthly wraps for the time being as we were not seeing significant value from these weekly posts. That being said should people request them or traffic have a decline in the coming weeks this may be revisited.
Other regular posts have taken off quite well and appear to be very popular these posts being Blast from the past and Video of the week. If you would like to nominate your video for video of the week reply to the most recent video of the week post at anytime or hit us up on twitter@matesmadness .
Moving forward we are looking to incorporate product reviews both written and video versions initially using products purchased for the site or to be used in videos. These reviews will be honest feedback either good or bad and at times will contain affiliate links to further improve our income streams. Should you have a product you would like us to review reach out to us to on twitter @matesmadness to discuss.
Primarily the focus over the next month is content covering games/apps posts and our own videos, we are having a big push to get to 500 Youtube subscribers and your support by subscribing to our channel downloading rating and reviewing our apps and commenting on posts here on Mates Madness is a required to help us to continue to grow. If you have suggestions/requests for content let us know below
So we have just finished our first full month since relaunching Mates Madness from scratch so I thought I would give you a quick April wrap up. As expected its been a slow build but things are coming along nicely. Throughout the month we have had 140 different visitors many of them coming back more than once. These visitors have viewed the 28 new pieces of content added to the site which contained about 15 different videos. although through the month it did not seem like we got that many different posts up its very pleasing showing that we averaged just under one new piece of content each day.
19 comments were made against posts with 3 of those comments coming from readers just like yourself which is great to see people already getting involved across the Mates Madness website. I am hoping for this number to double during May. The next target is to get some comments on our Youtube channel and double our number of subscribers there from 8 to 16. The overall goal is to get to 1,000 subscribers as that is one of the requirements needing to be meet to monetize the channel which is a clear goal for us.
In regards to Android app development we now have 10 apps up on the Playstore with about 30 installs across all 10 apps, we have earnt about $3.50 from these apps which is great starting platform. Across all income channels we earnt $6 for the month of April which is no where near anything to write home about but it does give us some indication of what is working, what needs work and what to move away from.
Goals for the month of May
Get 10 quality videos up 5 of which are to feature Kieran or myself
Get 10 new apps on the Playstore
Get 31 new posts here on the Mates Madness website (1 per day)
Begin working with an affiliate program such as Amazon
10 twitter posts
25% increase in income
50% increase in comments from visitors to Mates Madness
Youtube channel to 20 subscribers
1 new recurring theme developed
50 app downloads
5 app reviews
Wish us luck, even better support us, leave a comment, search Mates Madness on the Playstore and download and test one of our apps, subscribe to our Youtube channel. You may not think you are doing much but every little bit of support helps and we really do appreciate it.
Not sure if you all have seen the first Mates Madness weekly wrap post (view it here) but I suck at throwing doubles in darts, which is pretty bad because you need to throw a double to win in either 501 or 301. I can throw 20’s consistently enough to get down in the double throwing position pretty quickly but from there it all falls to pieces.
I have decided that as I normally get down to 2 and end up throwing at double 1 if I cant learn to hit that pretty consistently I will be able to turn my fortunes around and start getting some wins on the board.
Check out my little practice session below.
After losing a couple of games of darts (501) after having a big lead due to not being able to throw a double I decided it was time for some practice. I seem to be pretty good at getting in winning positions just not able to close games out.
As you can see I still have plenty of work to do to be able to consistently hit that double but i am getting there slowly.
Once I get this down I will move back to triple 20.
Another week is coming to close and its been a bit of a tough week for the Mates Madness team which is clearly evident by some of the content shared here this week. For me personally it was the last week of work prior to going on annual leave so each day I started to go more and more into holiday mode as a result getting out of bed in the morning got harder and harder. Now finally I have a few days at home then off interstate to Melbourne for a few days for a quick family get away, Whilst I there I will try to share what we get up to with you all. Damo had his own challenges which he has been going through for some time and more than likely some of that stuff will continue for some time but he will get through it. Kieran opened up and shared some of his struggles with losing weight and just how hard day to day life can be, I know much of the inspiration for this post comes from the tough time he and his family have had over the past 4 or so months. Kieran makes a great point in that post about how important it is to ask the people in your life especially your mates ARE YOU OK?
We ended the week with a day out at the footy followed by a few Jacks and Coke then catching up with Damo for a bite to each and talk crap for a while we did take a quick bit of pregame footage from the footy and added to our Youtube channel.
From an income point of view our passive income streams are yet to kick in really with know new apps uploaded to the play store, check out our games currently on the play store here. With only a few new downloads and and know clicks both in app and on this site all income came from impressions and was only 1 cent down from the 17 cents earnt last week. That is ok though we know this is a long term strategy we are not expecting to become overnight millionaires on anything like that. If you do download any of our games though we would love to get some feedback from you by way of a review and comments here on Mates Madness.
Hopefully the next week is a bit more up beat for everyone and I manage to get my old Android phone charging so I am able to take some screen shots of new apps to enable me to get them up on the play store.
Living day to day if hard for some people they might look or seem fine when you see them or speak to them, but you don’t actually know how they are really feeling they could seem very happy when you speaking to them but deep down they could be feeling very sad and putting on that happy smile and act, you think this person is very happy and then you walk away and somebody else comes and speaks to them and they might be very sad to them and you think they were so happy speaking to me what has happen in that very short amount of time from speaking to me and to this other person.
so you could look at somebody and they are acting so happy but you don’t know what they are actually dealing with deep down they could have lost a family member recently or are dealing with depression you cant just think this person is always happy when they could be dealing with something to big. Its like that old saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”.
If everybody in the world could just stop for 1 minute out of there day to just ask somebody how they are feeling it could lift their spirits and they would think that a person is so caring that they can ask me how I am going it takes 5 seconds just to ask somebody how they are going that’s all it takes. So why not next time you see somebody just ask them how they are going you might just make their day and they will be so much happier for the rest of the day because you have just asked them how they were going.
In Australia we have a day just to ask people are you ok because of how many people were committing or trying to commit suicide and by you or somebody asking those three little words it can stop somebody trying to commit suicide. So that help to be just asking those three little words it can stop or hopefully stop somebody trying to commit suicide.
If you would like to read more about the day you can visit www.ruok.org.au/
Losing weight is one of the hardest things for some people to do as I have realised recently but I have found some small ways to help me and they will hopefully help you guys aswell.
Portion control is a major one that I have found it means you don’t need to stop eating chips and anything sweet it just means you need to cut it down to at least 10 chips instead of half a packet or one chocolate instead of 5 also if your drink soft drinks instead of having a couple of glass a day or a couple cans try cutting it down to at least half a glass a day or one can.
another one I have found is just getting up from sitting down doing something on my computer to go for a quick walk to get you off the computer because I realised after siting at my computer for a long time I start to see stars and feel dizzy because of siting and looking at a screen for to long.
Another one to help which is one most people will know is exercising but some people find it hard next time you try to exercise try doing with some friends that are also exercising it will help you probably go longer then just doing by yourself and who wants to exercise by themselves you will start exercising and after about 10 to 15 minutes your going to say to yourself why am I doing this but if you exercise with friends you will go longer because they will hopefully motivative you to do what exercise you are doing.
While you are exercising try to take a 3 to 5 minute brake every half an hour from doing anything hard but try to keep your heart rate up by just walking around if you don’t walk around and keep your heart rate up, when you get back to doing exercise after you brake you are going to feel like not doing it but if you keep your heart rate up it will help you get back to doing the exercise easier.
Just remember your not alone there are more people out in the world just like you trying to lose weight so if we all join together we will all be able to lose weight together. So lets get this started and help each other. If you or anybody you know have any other ideas about losing weight I would like to hear from you in the comments below and don’t forget to share this post if it helps you or you think it will help someone you know.
Getting out of bed in the morning can be one of the hardest things to do especially mentally, when things are not going your way day to day many people lay there dreading going through it all over again so I thought that I would give some tips for people to work through to see if any of them work for them.
In a large percentage of cases the thing you are dreading is work related so lets focus on that in this post, lets look at getting you out of bed in the morning and off to work.
The first thing is you need to ensure your mind set right, understand why you are going to work, to pay the bills, put a roof over your head, feed yourself and family. As a result try to look at work as a positive there are many people out there that don’t have a job and those simple tasks become much harder. The next thing is remember there are not many people in this world that have a job that good they live to work, most of us work to live. As a result set goals to make sure you reward yourself foe your hard work, set small goals to give yourself regular reward but also set a large goal something to work towards, something to strive for something that when you finally achieve will give you a real sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. If hitting that goal and giving yourself that reward does not give you that feeling you probably didn’t set the right goal or didn’t make the most out of your reward.
The small goes must also be celebrated because something two years away isn’t great motivation to get up today, small steps.
The next tip is know you create your own destiny, you get out what you put in. Your life is not planned out for you, you decide what happens when it happens or at the least have a very big say in it. So if you want something to happen stop talking about it stop complaining about it not happening and work hard to make it happen. YOU CAN DO IT you just need to push yourself to make sure getting of bed. It all starts with you.
Well another week has come to close pretty much our first full week on the new relaunched Mates Madness, so I thought I we would start providing a bit of a weekly wrap up of what go on.
This week as you have seen we launched some app on the Play Store Match 3 World Edition being the first and in the end 5 more went up. To this point they have note been very successful having a combined total of 8 downloads from the Play Store. From an income point of view we made a little 17 cents with over 1000 impressions and 1 click which is start but still shows we have a long way to go.
Traffic here at Mates Madness has doubled to up to 50 hits per day already which is a great sign, to keep this trend going up we need your support though, please share any content on your socials that you find interesting or that you think someone you know will enjoy.
We have also launched Bidvertiser adds here on Mate Madness as these were only just put in place late in the week we have only generated just over 100 impressions and as a result no income that is showing up at this point. I am not fan at the moment of Bidvertiser due to there reporting but with the site being new and limited traffic we think they are a good starting point but will be working towards Adsense integration.
Around the world of sport the NBL here in Australia came to a close with Melbourne winning the championship beating Adelaide in game 5 check out some stats here on Kieran’s post. I didn’t watch the game so I cant comment on what let Adelaide down or Melbourne did well but the home court advantage over there has really helped Melbourne over Adelaide this year.
While that game was going on Damo came over and we gave my new darts setup its first real workout which was good but I just need to learn to hit those doubles I was in winning positions all 3 games of 501 and only took out the first game after that I could hit a double in probably something like 30+ tries to win. Maybe today I might practice throwing at doubles I mean it cant hurt considering I need to them to win and I hate losing.
So for the weekly wrap that’s pretty much it, moving forward for the week ahead (a short week at work) I am hoping to get up on the play store and 3-5 apps and at least that much content on here for you all to check out.
As you may have seen from my about me post one of my goals is to become an online entrepreneur to enable me to set my own hours and spend more quality time with my family. As part of this I have been investing a considerable amount of time into app development for both Android and IOS. I have looked into coding an decided that
its going to take way to long for me to get to the standard needed to be able to code my own app so I need to come up with another way. I have looked at paying a coder but that takes money and whole heap of trust neither of which I have heaps of at the moment.
Based on all of these conditions I decided I needed to start small drag and drop type stuff or preexisting templates and I found the latter two days ago with Appsgeyser so I have decided to give them a shot. They have all the bones there for about 70 different types of apps and you just need to set your colour scheme, upload your own images and create your own google play console account (there is a $25 sign up cost for this).
Appsgeyser so far is super user friendly that hardest thing is finding pictures that fit the size requirements, that being said they do provide you links to sites that offer free images. For there templates they do take 50% of the advertising space in your app which is alot but looking at it glass half full prior to having an app through them you have none and they have less so I guess its a win win.
This afternoon I threw an app together really quickly in about 30mins but once I get the hang of it and have the right size pictures it could easily be done in 10-15mins. Now these apps are basic so dont expect anything fancy but have a look at my first effort which is a match 3 app (Match 3 world edition) so far it is only available on Android.
Now as the apps are basic I dont expect to make full time income from this app but think big picture what if I had 50 or 100 of these apps all making 5-10 dollars a day after being live in the play store for a few months the thought has merits and I will keep you up to date with how I go from an income point of view and the other apps I create using Appsgeyser
Hopefully the overall quality of the apps improves with the more I make because I know this one is far from the greatest thing in the market place but I also know that it is far from the worst
hopefully you download the app Match 3 world edition as I would love some feedback on it and dont forget to share this post on your socials
Time to you all a little about me which will hopefully put future post in context for you and let you know that I am just an everyday guy.
I am married to an amazing woman and we have two beautiful children both girls who have just had birthday the eldest is 6 and the younger one is 3. They are both so different and definitely keep me on my toes, I love spending time with but at the same time but at the same time when I get 5 minutes to myself it feels like 30 seconds.
I currently manage an office of produce warehouse but my goal is to become an online entrepreneur, to build a passive income online with the income coming from multiple different sources, affiliate marketing, online advertising from sites like this one, app development, crypto trading, youtube and dailymotion videos and any other source that I can come up with.
This goal is important to me as it will allow me to spend more time with my family especially during the week it always feels like there is not enough time, the standard day is wake get the girls ready, get ready myself, myself or my wife drop them off we go to work. I pick them up, homework, cook dinner, do some type of house work dishes, clothes washing, sweep/mop etc etc. From there its a quick games with the girls once they finish eating dinner the its already time to get the ready for bed.
Other than developing my income online I have started to put on a few kg’s over the last 5 years to I would like to lose 10+ kilograms I currently weigh 90-92kg’s depending on the day and time and I would like to get that down below 80kg so they plan is regular exercise and eating at better times of the day no more packets of chips laying in bed watching Netflix.
For now I will leave it at that but overtime there will be more goals added and you will constantly learn more about me throughout future posts and videos.
