everyone I thought I do a Coach Career mode starting in the VFL but I’m not sure what club I should start from I would like to hear your thought on what club I should there is a poll below for you to vote on with all the VFL teams
once I’ve started a coach career I will do a weekly post of how each round has gone I will also take a picture of the final score of each match for the round that I’ve just done to show how it went in that round and also tell you what I hope to happen next round. I will also take a picture of the ladder after each round as well to show you were my team is seating at the time and if they can make finals.
I would like hear what other Career modes you would like to see post from maybe a New Player just starting out trying to get to a AFL team or a professional player already on an AFL team but I wouldn’t know what professional player to choose from as there are too many good one to choose from maybe you can help me out and narrow it down to a couple of favourite players.
until next time
Even though this week was a short week at work it felt like a long one, getting back into the work groove after a few weeks off was tough, that being said I still made time to get on Mates Madness early in the week to share another of the videos taken whilst I was in Melbourne on my family holiday. Check out the active animals at the Melbourne Zoo.
Kieran and I also conducted a little bit of mad science (see the pun, Mates Madness) we dropped a whole heap of different lollies into Coca Cola (Coke) to check out the different reactions so pretty cool and some were fizzers.
As mentioned above it was short work week with Anzac Day falling mid week on a Wednesday, Lest We Forget. A day of acknowledgement of a fallen soldiers a day where we reflect on the significant sacrifices made by the Australian and New Zealand soldiers to enable us to have the life that we have today.
Mates Madness launched a new app and probably the best app that we have made so far Astronaut Space Walk a flappy bird clone but instead of an Astronaut dodging Super Mario style tubes you guide an Astronaut between the satellites on his space walk, its no where near as easy as it looks.
Kieran shared his AFL fantasy team and explained some of his reasons behind his selections and his lack of trades, personally with Ablett being injured for a few weeks now I would have traded him out or at least moved him to the bench, there are also some really good new players in the AFL system this year getting games already so I have made some changes to my bench players before prices went up and grabbed some really good bargains on those players but its looks like he has missed out on that.
That’s where the site but not where my week ended, Friday afternoon I found out one of the guys who works at my youngest daughters child care plays footy and his team the Modbury Hawks forfeited the week before because they were short of players. I have not played football (Aussies Rules) in 8-9 years about this time every year I get itchy feet and consider going back out to play somewhere. This information about Modbury has given me itchy feet. Modbury’s ground is only 5 minutes from home and they are also the Hawks which is a big selling point for me. The team he plays in is the D grade so the bottom end competition and considering how long its been since I have played and how unfit I am its the perfect place for me to have a go. Yesterday to help me decide I went out to watch the team play (the C grade had a bye so a few players dropped down for the day giving the them a full side). The team looks good there are a few good players and also a few not so good players who are just out there to have a bit of fun like what I am thinking of doing. This is encouraging for me because it means I wont look out of place while I find a bit of fitness and allowing my skill level to gradually improve over the course of the season. So I have something to think about, if I am going to play I need to make a decision by Wednesday as I will need to go buy some boots and stuff and train and meet the team Thursday night to give me a shot at playing this coming weekend. I will keep you updated with my decision and if I decide to play I will try to arrange either Kieran or someone else to come watch to try to capture some footage of how I go.
Everyone with it just over a quarter the way through for the 2018 AFL season I thought I would give you an idea of what my AFL Fantasy Team looks like
You can see in the picture below at what my team looks like so far and this is what it was at the start of the season so I haven’t done any trades this season.
Because I think why would you want to trade a player out if you don’t like them any more or there not getting the ball as much or not playing any games if you trade them out because they aren’t getting the ball what makes you think they will play like that for the rest of the season
You can see that I have Patrick Dangerfield as my vice-captain and Tom Mitchell as my Captain the reason I haven’t got Patrick as my Captain and Tom as is because Tom gets more possessions then Patrick most games and I get double points for having Tom as my captain to.
You can also see that I have four Geelong players in my team Zach Guthrie, Patrick Dangerfield, Gary Ablett and Sam Menegola which are probably my four of my five Favourite AFL players the fifth being Daniel Menzel the reason he isn’t in my team is because I don’t have any more money to get him. And also, I don’t want to trade any of my players at the moment.
If you think I should change something on my team I would really like to hear your ideas and I will take them on. I would also like to hear about who’s in your team and why certain players are in the team. Another thing I would like to hear is who is you favourite AFL player past or Present it doesn’t matter my Favourite player of all time is Jimmy Bartel.
Everyone with today being the 25th of April it is Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand. So, I thought I would get up a post celebrating the day that we get taught from very young how important it is.
Some people have different things they like to do on Anzac day some people wake up early and go to a dawn services, some people go and see family or friends and have a catch up or a barbecue and some people go to the MCG and watch the Anzac day AFL match between Collingwood and Essendon and some people wait till a bit later and go to Aami park and watch the Melbourne storm play.
One thing I like to do is sit down and watch the Anzac day match between Collingwood and Essendon and I also like to watch the Melbourne storm play as the Melbourne Storm are my favourite team is the NRL.
But this day means a lot to people not just from Australia but also New Zealand as we joined forces and tried to help in WW1 another thing that most of us like are Anzac Biscuits if you haven’t had one you need to try them you might like them or you might not like them but at least you have tried them and you can have your own opinion on them not just hearing somebody opinion on them.
Some thing else that happens every year is people try and go over to Gallipoli and see where the soldiers were getting shot by other soldiers trying to stop them from getting on to the beach.
If you would like to see what it like to be at an AFL game when its and Anzac round game you can do so by checking out the video below.
thanks for reading this post and I hope you have a good rest of your Anzac Day
A more up beat week over the last 7 days, a few shares from my holiday last weekend (more to come next week). The first was my footy footage of the Hawks V Melbourne
A great game to watch all be it freezing cold, even Iron Man made and appearance to promote an Avengers event in Melbourne. Throughout the rest of the week to be honest I lazed around trying to relax and enjoy the the rest of my holidays from work which didn’t quite go to plan with plenty of house work needing to be done.
I also shared with you all footage from Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium a place my girls aged 6 and 3 loved there was so many different marine animals to see and the tanks were fantastic you got a great view of most of them, Laila my eldest loved the penguins but there were plenty of other fish to see
Something we didn’t discuss here on the Mates Madness website but was a pretty big effort in sport (shared on our twitter account) was Oakland A’s left handed pitching pitching the first no hitter of the 2018 MLB season and the first for the Boston no hit game for the Boston Red Sox since Aprill 22 1993 25 years ago.
So if you have not done so follow us on Twitter, subscribe to our You Tube channel and share this post on your socials and any other post here on Mates Madness that you enjoy.
as you guys know me and Matt have season membership passes to all port home games and me being a Geelong supporter I was happy about this being a Port home game as I only get to wear my Geelong stuff to watch them live once maybe twice a year.
You can see all the Port Adelaide vs Geelong footage I took in the video below of what I got. With it being the Anzac round, they do the last post and National Anthem you can almost hear a pin drop with how quiet it is in the ground and it just picks up when the National Anthem is done with the players go back and wait for the game to start.
I was happy with the result but I would of thought the Peter Badcoe medal should of gone to somebody else then Joel Selwood I would like to see George Horlin-Smith win it. Because George was on the ball more than Joel and Had more Disposals and didn’t lose the ball to much ever.
But other then that this was an alright game of football and I hope it will be like this for the rest of the year
after the game we went and got some tea and went back to Damo house and played some NBA 2k18. I was just watching Matt and Damo play, they chose to go all-time best with Matt picking the New York Knicks and Damo picking The Philadelphia 76ers. Damo won the game with Wilt Chamberlin dominating getting 29 points and 17 rebounds.
Maybe we might do a post on us playing each other and seeing who is the best.
So on the Sunday of my family holiday I went to the MCG to check watch the Hawks play the Demons, I was pretty excited I don’t get to see Hawthorn in Melbourne very often so I was really hoping for a win for the Hawks. The weather was not great and I had on only my Hawks media polo from a few years ago so with it only being about 17 degrees and raining on and off I was getting pretty cold. Check out the jacket I brought below (not my best selfie effort) maybe I could smile or something…
I had a great view of the game on the wing almost directly in line with the centre circle, throughout the game I took a whole bunch of video as well check out the merged video footage
My Hawthorn v Melbourne footage MCG 15 April 2018, big win by the Hawks over the Demons
I tried to capture a few goals and some centre clearances, being a Hawks fan I focused way more on when they had the ball. Forgive my poor footage at times I got distracted watching the game sorry…
I found it great to watch Tom Mitchell live, he didn’t have his best game but he works hard always running and getting very few cheap possessions. Melbourne paid him very close attention and the stoppages with Jones almost glued to him yet he was still the leading clearance getting for the game. I reckon he has a great shot to win a Brownlow over the next 2-4 years if he stays injury free. He does need to work on his disposal a little more, he doesn’t quite have the elite kicking skills of some of the more recent great Hawthorn midfielders.
Roughy started slow but got into the game as it went on and we are finally starting to see dividends into the Hawks recruitment of Jaeger O’Meara if he can stay injury free they have a pretty impressive midfield.
Another week is coming to close and its been a bit of a tough week for the Mates Madness team which is clearly evident by some of the content shared here this week. For me personally it was the last week of work prior to going on annual leave so each day I started to go more and more into holiday mode as a result getting out of bed in the morning got harder and harder. Now finally I have a few days at home then off interstate to Melbourne for a few days for a quick family get away, Whilst I there I will try to share what we get up to with you all. Damo had his own challenges which he has been going through for some time and more than likely some of that stuff will continue for some time but he will get through it. Kieran opened up and shared some of his struggles with losing weight and just how hard day to day life can be, I know much of the inspiration for this post comes from the tough time he and his family have had over the past 4 or so months. Kieran makes a great point in that post about how important it is to ask the people in your life especially your mates ARE YOU OK?
We ended the week with a day out at the footy followed by a few Jacks and Coke then catching up with Damo for a bite to each and talk crap for a while we did take a quick bit of pregame footage from the footy and added to our Youtube channel.
From an income point of view our passive income streams are yet to kick in really with know new apps uploaded to the play store, check out our games currently on the play store here. With only a few new downloads and and know clicks both in app and on this site all income came from impressions and was only 1 cent down from the 17 cents earnt last week. That is ok though we know this is a long term strategy we are not expecting to become overnight millionaires on anything like that. If you do download any of our games though we would love to get some feedback from you by way of a review and comments here on Mates Madness.
Hopefully the next week is a bit more up beat for everyone and I manage to get my old Android phone charging so I am able to take some screen shots of new apps to enable me to get them up on the play store.
Yesterday Kieran and I went to the Port v Brisbane game at Adelaide oval, we actually go to most Port games due to holding members general admin tickets. Yesterday’s game was much closer that it should have been Port rocked up looking like the expected to win and a result looked lazy and unwilling to run. Check out the video below for part of the warmup, and the Port pre bounce count down right through to the first score.
AFL rnd 3 Port Power vs Brisbane Lions, pre game warmup bounce count down and first score. You have to love it he atmosphere pre bounce with Port's unique count down to the first bounce the crowd really gets involved
Port had plenty of chances to put Brisbane away especially early but could not kick straight and Brisbane made the most of there opportunities and a one point had 4 goals from 5 inside 50’s. Port finally kicked away in the 3rd but let the Lions back in the last as it looked like the Power players had put the cue in the rack and decided they had, had enough for the day. As a result the game finished within a goal and spend most of the last few minutes down the Brisbane attacking end. Port were lucky to get away with the win.
After the game we headed over the Strathmore for a drink whilst we were there we ran into my old next door neighbour Bob and his family in the pokies so we hung around for abit had a few more drinks and chatted a few drinks later Damo drove into the city to get Kieran and I as Bob had dinner reservations. The 3 of headed out for dinner outside the city in the direction of home – at this point 5 or so Jacks and Coke in I really needed to eat. After dinner we sat around and talked shit for abit and Damo and I went head to head at darts on his phone and I came out the big winner something like 2 games to 5, doubles were so much easier to hit on the phone…
After that we headed home but it was a great day out with Mates something that was one of the reasons we built this site, to encourage both ourselves and others to ensure and help people find away to get out relax and unwind with there mates. Throughout the footy season if we go out before or after a game this year I will try to share our time out with you all, this wont be every game as going out is not cheap but we will try to do something every few games.
everyone with the AFL season already going I thought I would talk about the DLC content on AFL Evolution that is getting released this year
With AFL Evolution being released in 2017 they are releasing some DLC for this year which will include SANFL, NEAFL and the WAFL and also the new Perth Stadium called the Optus Stadium that is not all they will be doing an update they will put a 2018 fixture in some new players and some new squads aswell
I’m looking at getting the DLC and if I do I don’t know if I’m going to do a Coach career which I will coach a club in the SANFL, NEAFL or WAFL. A new player career which I will make and try to take my player all the way from a SANFL, NEAFL or WAFL club into an AFL club and Win the Premiership, or take a pro player that is already on any of the SANFL, NEAFL or WAFL clubs and get them to play in an AFL Club I would like to hear what you reckon I should do and I might take anything you say into consideration
I think that if they could of released the game with the SANFL, NEAFL and WAFL teams they should of instead of waiting a whole year just to release DLC with THE SANFL, NEAFL and WAFL but if they couldn’t release the DLC until now its probably because they didn’t have the rights to all the teams in those competitions it a good idea to re-release it now with DLC you can by the DLC when it comes out if you already have on XBOX One, PS4 or Steam or you can buy the game with the DLC include in it buy going to get a physical copy of the game or downloading it digitally. so if you are thinking of getting the DLC I think it is a good idea because you will now be able to play or coach in the SANFL, NEAFL and WAFL which is good value for money.
their are also some new achievements that come with the DLC which are
But wait there is more which means you need to win the NEAFL, SANFL and WAFL competitions on hard or higher difficulty
North Eastern Champion which means you need to win a NEAFL season
South Australian Champion which means you need to win a SANFL season
West Australian Champion which means you need to win a WAFL season
New Surroundings which means you need to win a game at Optus Stadium
A living Legend which means you need to win a game using Legend difficulty using any of the 2018 team
