Yesterday was a poor day other than my afternoon walk I spent large parts of the day sitting down working or as normal some night time Netflix before bed. Getting out in the cold even if it is sunny still takes a bit of self motivation. Yesterday on my mid afternoon walk it was probably 10 degrees colder than my warm over heated office. That being said its still no excuse I need to push myself more to make sure I hit my 10k step goal as I feel quite a bit short after yesterdays efforts
As you can see from my walk data below it made up a big chunk of my day almost half my steps and over half my active minutes. On top of that yesterdays walk was tough, the shin splints got really bad about half way through and there was quite a bit of pain running through my leg in the last 5 or so minutes. If this continues and walking is going to be my main daily exercise im going to need to address this
Tonight I have to force myself in to the garage to do q few reps with the 10kg weight to get the arms working. I will be doing so me research today as to the different lifts I can do to work the different upper body muscles. As the arms are constantly moving these will also counts as steps on the Fitbit, I will put into the weights exercise mode to see if that impacts the step count. It has to better than the overall result today
Today I originally left home without the Fitbit on and realised when dropping my daughter at school which is luckily just around the corner so I went back to get it. So far to show a good result to you all tomorrow I have a whole heap of work to do, its 11am and I have only done 377 steps since putting the watch on. Time to get off my butt and get moving.
Day 3 first day back at work required a lot more effort to hit the 10k step target. I took a 3000 + step 30 minute walk which helped a lot in getting the total up there. On top of that I visited two different shops on the way home from work, a pet store to get some stuff for my pet turtle Ninja and a supermarket to pick up some potatoes eggs and a massive pair of lamb shanks which I cooked for dinner in the air fryer. Even after all that extra walking that I wouldn’t normally do i was still just over 2k short of my 10,000 steps goal after dinner was finished.
This meant more needed to be done up and down the hallway I went for about 10 minutes while the girls were getting ready for bed. Follower by a super quick few reps with a 10kg weight ( it was quick because the arms were still dead from the work on the yard over the weekend) then I put the girls to bed and then back up and down the hallway for another 10 minutes until I hit the 10k step goal
As you can see for pretty much the same amount of steps as the day before the calories burnt are significantly down on the day prior showing just how much more I got out of spending the day working in the yard keeping the heart rate up.
Some details of my lunch walk below, I need to pick up the pace but at the current time its a bit hard as if I go to quick I start to get shin splints so I will need to look at bringing different shoes to walk in, in place of my dress steel caps that I was wearing. Day 4 here I come another 10,000 steps are on there way. After I hit this a few more days in a row I will need to work adding regular light weights to work on my upper body a bit but that is a challenge for another day.
After spending another day out in the yard digging holes and preparing my driveway surface I had some good results hitting my 10k step goal it did take about 15 minutes at the end of the day pacing up and down my hall way but I got there.
Still it would have liked to have gone that additional 500 metres to hit my 7k goal but I will keep working towards that. For me the big plus is due to hours spent working in the yard the heart rate was consistently up resulting a huge amount of calories burnt, over 4k which is huge as naturally I only burn about 2k each day.
As mentioned I am not super keen on the idea of dieting as in cutting foods out such as crabs, sugars or fats but I am working on portion control and eating better snacks. Recently I have been eating heaps of Allens Redskins so I will have to resist that urge or just eat maybe one at a time. I couldn’t hold back smacking last night in bed when watching Netflix but I didn’t sit there and gorge on a packed of chips and dip as I had been recently instead just had some of s nut mix I’ve had sitting around for a while.
Today is the tough one though back at work and spent most of morning in meetings or going through spreadsheets at my desk. Almost lunch time where I will try to take a walk for half hour which i reckon has got to make up at least 4k steps today or else I will be back up and down the hallway again tonight…
So after yesterday in my update post talking about wanting to get active again as I need to get back to losing weight and especially stop putting it on.
I decided I would start to wear my Fitbit Surge again to motivate me to move more, or at least show me how lazy I am being. On top of that I got very hands on in my front yard preparing the area for my soon to be constructed retaining wall. From there was a fair bit of the dug up dirt transferred from the front to the back.
In addition to this I recently downloaded Pokemon Go again to encourage me to get active and walk more (video screen recordings coming soon). So I have already ticked off a number of things on my list from my last post which I’m pretty happy about. Check out my Fitbit stats from yesterday
Now I am super happy with my result but at the same time really annoyed with myself that I couldn’t get my butt of the couch away from the TV for 2 minutes to do another 83 steps to hit my 10k step goal to day I am making sure I hit that goal, I am doing more work in the yard which will help And will walk up and down the hallway to get whatever I am sure before I get into nighttime TV. If I can’t hit the goal on the weekend I will be struggling as its much easier to do now than it will be come Monday when I am back at work and will need to be spending most of the day working at my desk. At the moment though I am resisting the urge to go binge on a packet of chips or maybe some biscuits, wish me luck.
So in an early post I wrote about some goals of mine one of those being to lose some weight and to be brutally honest with myself I have nothing about it really if anything I have gotten worse. I am not big on dieting so that was never really part of the plan just some smarter eating and a lot less late night eating when there is not time left in the day to burn of those consumed calories am going backwards with my weight loss goals at the moment.
My weight has actually increased a few kilograms since injuring my hamstring trying to make a football comeback. Now everytime the hamstring starts to improve I do something to reagravate it delaying any rerun to sport or meaningful exercise. This week I have started taking walks again at lunch time with Damo but I just end up walking to the shop and buying way more for than I need smashing it down and walking back. Last weekend I starting working on my front yard and again over did it with hamstring but it was good to start to see some progress on the yard. The plan there is to get some excercise while doing the work and saving a heap of money by not hiring someone to do the walk for me. On top of that the dirt I dig up is then being moved by the bucketload by hand to the backyard approximately 25-30 metres away and up 5 stairs due to my home being split level.
It is time to up the anti on the hamstring rehab though the weight has got start to come off again I am starting to find myself tired faster and breathing a lot harder doing some of the simplest tasks. Previously my Fitbit Surge was helping to motivate me to hit step or calories burnt targets but I have stopped wearing it due battery issues. It’s either time to deal with battery problems or get a new watch I think.
So from here the goal/plan is
A new fitness/smart watch
Cut down the after dinner eating
Resume regular excercise
Reduce meal sizes
Hamstring rehab excercises
Arrange and exercise group to enable us to keep each other accountable
A few new apps/games on the phone which encourage walking and other forms of exercise
A healthier body should then make for a happier more energetic me allowing for me to complete tasks around the home faster more often freeing up more time to spend my girls and also working on this site and building our apps. Depending on which scales I am using and the time of the day I at around 90-93 kgs. I would love to be back down around 75-80 kgs by Christmas so ruffly 2kgs a month which doesn’t seem like much with just some dedication and drive. Let’s see how I go I will keep you updated on the goals/plan .
With the massive world wide following that Pokemon has we decided to jump on board. Myself personally I have never been a real big fan but Kieran is right into Pokemon as are a few other people I know so it seemed like a good niche even if it is saturated to base a few new apps on.
The first of the new apps launched is a Pokemon puzzle/quiz app where you need to rearrange the pieces to reveal the Pokemon and then name which Pokemon it is from the letters provided. The game came out pretty well, the puzzle side of things adds an extra little challenge on top of just needing to name the pictured Pokemon which for many die hard fans should not be to complicated.
The 2nd app has not turned out as well as I had hoped as yet but all the same the decision was made to realease it on the play store. This app is a Pokemon version of the classic Mahjong game with all of the tiles featuring different Pokemon pictures. There are two different sets of Pokemon pictures used throughout the levels you just need to get far enough into the game to get to use the 2nd set of tiles. My mum used to love playing Mahjong so it felt good to have potentially made a game that she would have played even if Pokemon wasn’t her thing.
There a couple more Pokemon games yet to hit the play store which should hopefully go live in the next few days
The first of these being a match 3 game featuring Pokemon characters where you simply need to line up 3 or more of the same character to score. Lining up 2 groups of 3 at once or lines of 4 or 5 help you to score more and earn extra moves to extend your game longer.
The final game in the last stages of testing is a Pokemon word search where you need to fondness the names of the Pokemon hidden amongst the random letters. The game has easy medium and hard options and 4+ different sets of words to choose from.

Whilst in LA we visited the Queen Mary a former majestic cruise liner and also war time troop carrier, this amazing vessel now sits docked both as a floating hotel and tourist attraction in Long Beach California. On the day we visited Long Beach to see the Queen Mary we caught the train from downtown LA where we staying, I remember this train ride as it had a couple of unique things and 1 being a little scary at first. The train travels through Compton a place in the movies and TV heavily associated with gang violence so when a guy gets on the train and places his hand inside the backpack he was wearing in front of him and yells everyone I honestly had a little panic then suddenly the guy pulls out chocolate bars and starting yelling “candy get your candy $1 candy get your candy $1” he sells a few bars and gets of at the next station and runs to the next carriage of the train.
After the war, Queen Mary was refitted for passenger use and commenced transatlantic passenger service for which the ship was initially built. After several years of decreased profits for Cunard Line due to the dawn of the jet age in the late 1950s, Queen Mary was officially retired from service in 1967. She sailed out of Southampton for the last time on the 31st October 1967 and sailed to the port of Long Beach, California, USA, where she remains permanently moored.
In the Second World War conversion, the ship’s hull, superstructure and funnels were painted navy grey. As a result of her new colour, and in combination with her great speed, she became known as the “Grey Ghost.” To protect against magnetic mines, a degaussing coil was fitted around the outside of the hull. Inside, stateroom furniture and decoration were removed and replaced with triple-tiered wooden bunks, which were later replaced by standee bunks.
At what point do you speak up, when you see something not being done right, a person making a mistake, a person being dishonest, someone not putting in the effort required and it effects others. No matter if you speak up or not you know there will be fallout consequences will be had no matter wether you choose to speak up or not. How and when do you decide when enough is enough when it’s time to say your piece. Is there also a point when it is to late to speak up that no good will come of it. That when speaking up will do more harm than good.
Recently I find myself surrounded with people making consistent mistakes, sometimes the same mistakes over and over again and other times people trying to do to much with something they have no business doing. If this is for career advancement I have no issue with this if it is gone about the right way, the right questions are being asked knowledge is gained before just jumping in but at the moment that does not seem to be the case.
So back to the question when is enough, enough for me I try to be nice and put out the error in a relaxed manner just trying to be helpful even doing that the second time after that it’s got to be time to get tough and let them no there errors are effecting others and need to stop. But that’s what Gen it starts it’s not my fault this person does this that person did that. I don’t know it’s not my job it’s not wrong or they just straight out lie to your face.
Another thing in relation to this type of thing I have a strong suspicion that someone hasn’t been misappropriating funds they were managing for a series of years for there own benefit but I know for sure based on recent events that it is now not possible do I bring it up. Is is worth asking them the question what happened to all the money where did it go. I have very limited proof to support my suspicion and they hold all the cards it is worth now when it can’t happen anymore I get no gain from being right but significant heartache could be caused for many should I be right. Is the right thing to do exposing it really the right thing to do over a few bucks?

I thought it was about time we shared an update about the site, what we have achieved so far and our plans for the coming months. After almost 3 full months in we are tracking nicely we have just over 70 pieces of content up and are slowly starting to see organic search traffic arrive which is a real positive. We have also recently had an increase in social media generated traffic as a result of your shares and likes so thank you very much for your ongoing support.
Our Youtube channel is also growing and now has 50+ subscribers and counting. Getting quality content on our YouTube channel is a big focus for us over the next month so stayed tuned there.
Semi external to this website we also have 13+ apps in Google Play check them out now and show your support there will a review. For apple users we are not yet on the App Store but it is a goal in the future we just don’t have a time frame on this as it requires a few things that we don’t have in place at the moment.
From an income point of view we are averaging about $5 per month across all platforms in total with the majority coming from the website here and small amounts from our apps. The apps though have shown a solid increase in downloads and are now slowly starting to produce some consistent earning over the past few weeks, I would suggest these numbers are slowly going to continue to increase overtime into a nice passive income as we get more apps up and get better at marketing them.
You may have noticed no weekly wrap posts over the last few weeks and this is due to us making the decision to ends both the weekly and monthly wraps for the time being as we were not seeing significant value from these weekly posts. That being said should people request them or traffic have a decline in the coming weeks this may be revisited.

In 2006 My wife Sarah and I took our first overseas holiday and visited the UK a place my wife had been wanting to go for some time at that point and to be honest London was not even in my top 5 places to visit and as a result I didn’t have high expectations for our visit to the UK. We spent the first week in London doing all of the tourist things to do. Sarah wanted to cram as much as possible into our short time there. We were go go go all day long and with us going in the middle of summer they were long days with the sun not setting until about 10pm. On one of the days there we visited the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum which was pretty cool most of the wax creations look amazing but as with anything there are a few where you sit and scratch your head going I don’t see it, it doesn’t look like that person.
You will see a range of creations that were featured in the museum at the time of our visit in the You Tube clip below. You will see me pictured with and pictures of a few deceased celebs that are definitely not my taste mainly being Elvis and John Wayne but they were both 2 of my mums favourite celebrities so I had to do it for her and to be honest those two pictures came up really well. My favourite though are probably Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, My pics with Muhammad Ali and also Tom Cruise (as mentioned in previous posts I am a huge Top Gun Fan) and the 3 super heroes I mean how good does Spiderman and the Hulk look and of course the old school Superman you can see as the thumbnail below.
